Art Every Day - Leaf Design

Today, a leaf design, still with crayons - I'm enjoying them too much at the moment. It is true they remind you of when you were a child. The smell, the colours, the mess you get in when using them. It is also good to have the colour right there and ready to go - no getting your paints and water and brushes together - just pick up a crayon and start creating something!

  1. I am amazed that you are using crayons to create such vivid, bright, happy pieces of artwork...Is is really that easy? LOL! One day, Patti, I will post one of my attempts and I will dedicate to you and your ongoing inspiration!

  3. What kind of crayons are you using? This is GREAT! I think Crayola has changed their recipe from when I was little (no doubt, since that was the dinosaur age), and find them not as good as I remember. Maybe I'm not pressing hard enough. We'll see today...

  8. oh, lovely crayons! i very much like this! and scrolling down through your blog, i also really like your studio corner. it seems that studios reflect a lot about a person and yours is especially bright! but calm at the same time.

    beautiful work!

  9. These leaves are living, they even have seeds, and they are entwined in a lovely way. Such a lovely composition. And inspiring too, cause now I want to go and paint with my crayons, too! (we are like children aren't we?)

  10. I really like your crayon paintings. Just like your other paintings, so colorful. But why are they messy? Do you mean Crayola type crayons?? I have a box so I want to try crayons now.

Thanks for your comment on my blog re: Iyengar style yoga. I was feeling discouraged because today I can hardly walk, my ankles, sacrum and shoulders ache. I was thinking maybe I was too old for such active yoga. Thinking back about 14 years to my first Iyengar class I remember thinking I would not make it through to the end it was so exhausting but I kept going and stayed with that "school" of hatha yoga for about 5 years.

I know I just have to be gentle with myself and not compare myself to the other young strong women in the class and just keep going. Thanks so for your encouragement.
