Lucy's Garden

'Lucy's Garden' 22" x 28" acrylic on canvas.

Lately I have been enjoying researching Naive Art . In a nutshell, Naive artists are self-taught, generally use lots Colour and simple child-like designs, often without perspective. My absolute favourite Naive painter is Western Australian Mixed Media Artist Rebecca Cool, who uses the most beautiful fabrics in her work.

Rebecca inspired me to make this painting and there will be more to come from me in this style as I explore its possibilities and develop my own unique themes and characters. I just love it! Later, I may even take the leap into mixed media. Very exciting!

  2. GORGEOUS! I call them Visionary Artists and Outsider Artists and I have a couple of Visionary Art sites linked on my blog (under Oh the Places You'll Go). One of them even has a game where you can build your own postcard with yard art.

  5. This is AMAZING!!! OK, I think it's my favorite so far! Your use of patterning/placement and ALL THE WAY LIVE colors is fantastic! It's hard to believe that you are self taught, my friend. You are a NATURAL!!! Are you making the leap toward selling your work ? ? ?

With regard to the previous post - balance. Good stuff, Patti.

  6. Wow. YOu have really leapt into the new year with verve. Love this, it looks like a tapestry from South america. Yes, I too love what we here call "Outsider" art as Kelly above says. Untaught painters. Look forward to what evolves. Blessings, Suki

  7. Of course I'm crazy about the color, but it is also the flatness of the composition that pulls at me.

  12. Well, I was going to say "This is amazing!" but Eileen the Dream already beat me to it. So I"ll just second that. Love the colors and the design and the movement that you get - I can feel the water running and the fish swimming! And had to stay and make your cat purr, too. Very fun widget! Must go look at it.
Thanks for stopping by on my blog!
