A Sadness

There has been much to do around home over the Easter break - a little maintenance here and there, spring cleaning the house, pressure cleaning the driveway, patio and deck and sorting through old pot plants. Even the buddha statue that sits under my golden robinia tree needed his knees sweeping of leaves! Finally I potted up some punnets of pansies to add a dash of colour. It feels good now that it's all done!

Then in the early hours of Easter Sunday morning my mother passed away. A sad time for all of us. My mother had dementia and has lived in a nursing home for several years. Thankfully we were able to say our goodbyes and she died peacefully. My family is now gathering to remember her life and spirit.

  1. Patti, losing one's mother, at any age, is a sad and difficult passage. My heart is with you and your family at this time and may you find comfort with each other.

  3. Oh Patti, I'm so sorry. How sad you must feel. I think it is special, losing ones mom. I never realized how strongly it would effect me to lose my mom until it happened. though she remains with me in soul and spirit. the other night I awoke with a start, heard her call loud and clear, "Susan." Thinking of you and sending light.

  4. I too add my condolences. Such a mixture of sadness and possibly relief even. I too had a mom with dementia the last few years of her life. It was a difficult time for all of us, a sad time. My heart goes out to all of you in your family. Be well.

  7. Patti, I am so sorry for your loss. I too have lost my mother and she also had dementia. I think the saddest part for me was the loss of her spirit long before she past away.
