Moon Talk
The moon was full and magnified emotion.
I am the luckiest woman alive!
There is so much to be grateful for...
I give my thanks....
For miracles....
Thank you for listening.

triptych
Here is my tree triptych while underway.
It was intended to be a quietly stylish decorator piece, a simple silouette. But as usual the bright colours took over.
Ta da! All done!
There's a great post on 'surrender Vs giving up' here on Christine Kane's blog. I surrendered to something recently, so it was pertinent to me. I haven't given up though and neither should you! There is strength in surrender. More wisdom along those lines here in Jen Lemen's artwork.

Faces
I found these rough sketches and small painting of faces buried in a spare bedroom while tidying up. It is always interesting to me how working in different mediums creates different moods and how you can be more articulate in ink say, than in acrylics. At least, this is what I have found to be true for me. Here is the sketch for the above painting.
I would much prefer to do portraits of real people rather than faces purely from my imagination. People can be funny about sitting for you though, and I guess that's reasonable seeing as how the artist must scan the person, drawing out their essence. The scrutiny and the end result is probably quite confronting. Not to mention having to hold a pose for a length of time.
I have made portraits from photographs and while they turned out to be good representations, for me the real person is where the gold is, where you get to transfer their unique vibration to the canvas.

Uplifting!
This vase of native Australian banksias I painted on the spur of the moment in my journal. It was late at night, in poor light, on not-very-water-colour-friendly paper and it is kind of messy. But I somehow liked the result just the same!
Lynn's blog has in turn been uplifting for me and is full of beautiful art & craftwork and appreciation of the world that she lives in. Do check her out here.
Thanks so much Lynn (belatedly) for this Uplifting Blogger award!

I have also just begun responding to comments on each post, by return comment. I enjoy the exchange of communication with other bloggers who do this and thought I would do it too. So if you commented last post, pop back to the comments and take a look.
