Breathing In

"Breath"

Tree, gather up my thoughts
like the clouds in your branches.
Draw up my soul
like the waters in your root.
In the arteries of your trunk
bring me together.
Through your leaves
breathe out the sky.

by J. Daniel Beaudry

This is my Golden Robinia tree that I planted around ten years ago. I love the lime green, softly rounded leaves reminiscent of pendulous bunches of grapes, and the silvery-grey bark. When we have a rain storm and the skies are grey and heavy, this tree becomes luminous. Such magic.

One of the things I promised myself I would do, is to spend at least an hour in nature every day. So today amid the blue skies and sunshine I will weed, sweep and prune. I will spend some time just breathing in nature. And so it is.

  2. BUST! For some whacked out reason I can't see the photo! Oh well, I'll try again tomorrow. Good for you on the decision to spend at least an hour a day out in nature - you go, earth mother!!!

  3. you're so right Patti, this tree is a lovely colour of green...not a variety that I'm familiar with in this part of the world though. I love hearing about and seeing the plants you have in Australia.

  6. Ok, looking at that pic is so soothing....I love it.
I try to spend time in nature every day too, and I am cringing because soon it will be snowing and cold.
I prefer the coloured leaves and the crispness of the fall weather...trying to get as much as I can out of it, before it turns to winter.

  7. What a wonderful promise indeed...and so very wise of you. And thank you for the Joni Mitchell video. My music has been packed away for five months. This fed my soul.
